A lot of early tournament turmoil thus far everyone!
As of this writing, #2 seed UTSA was upset and eliminated by #6 FAU in the American Conference Tournament with a 12-5 score. UTSA and FAU both came off of heartbreaking losses: an extra inning 9-5 thriller and a 14-2 run rule rout, respectively. UTSA couldn't overcome the over use of it's pitchers in the opening 9-5 loss to Charlotte in 12 innings. That result seemingly leaves a path back to the AAC Final for reigning champ Tulane although I won't get ahead of myself. Tulane plays #7 seed Charlotte in a winners bracket game tomorrow with ECU and Wichita State being on the other winners side.
In other tourney news, Penn made it's way through the losers bracket to snag the Ivy Auto Bid.
In SEC news, LSU has opened some eyes with two routs of Georgia and Kentucky, the latter being a run rule victory this morning, 11-0. LSU has now all but secured atleast a 3 seed in the Final 64.
What result has shocked you the most? I apologize for brevity on the Ivy League but I don't have my finger on the pulse of that league like I do the AAC.
Texas eliminated in the Big 12 as well. 0-2, RPI drops to 45. That's a 3 seed resume. Does their name get them on the 2 line?
Oh, and Georgia Tech at 0-2 including a run rule elimination puts them in real danger of missing the tourney. Their RPI sits at #49 currently.
@sean-miller I think Texas gets put on 3 line especially with the ever expanding SEC bubble.
Thats why you dont want to be one of the “last 4 in” cause most years have too many stolen bids
